INTERFAM – Internet Dynamic Interlinking Family Tree System

https://www.interfam.net

Interfam is my own website, now hosted in Shoham, and is not a package. I wrote the software and I can update it if you have any suggestions although it mostly suffers for want of time.

DESIGN

Interfam is designed for Jewish family data but is in no way limited to recording Jewish data.

Everyone is welcome irrespective of race, ethnicity, religion, skin colour,  gender, age, sexual orientation etc.

Interfam is objective, neutral and non-judgemental.  It is intended to record historical fact.

When a family history has involved unpleasantness and hurt, as unfortunately happens occasionally, people sometimes wish to expunge the memory and exclude certain others from the family history.

While this is understandable, it damages the integrity of Interfam, so please do not be offended by Interfam when it includes individuals you would rather were forgotten, and when entering records please put aside feelings in favour of historical accuracy, and avoid the deliberate exclusion of anyone from Interfam.

Where does the data come from ?

Interfam began as an early home-made computer system programmed in APL.

After some years this technology became outmoded, and the arrival of the Internet provided new opportunities to make the data available in a more flexible way, rather than emailing documents.

It was then re-written in 2004 to make it browser-based over the Internet.

The data was originally collected by consulting a broad range of senior family members and since then data has been expanded and updated gradually and broadening it out to include the families of spouses.  In 2008 some data was obtained from a professional researcher in Poland. •Interfam allows you to record family members and relationships. •It facilitates searching for individuals •It displays the family tree. •You can print it by using cut-and-paste and pasting it into a word processor. •It tells you the family relationship between two individuals

Home Screen •Click on the “family tree” (formerly “interfam”) link on the left side menu (2nd one down).
•You will need to logon using userid and password.
•By default you have “read-only” permission only.  I can give you data-update permissions later.
•The data is dynamic, instantly updateable over the internet and immediately viewable.
•Also take a look at the Links page, there are some links to Bzezhiner web sites you know about I’m sure.  I am planning to update these soon and add more material.
